With the population of 96 million people (2019) and an area of 2.345.000 km2 the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the most populated Francophone country, second by its area in Africa, and 11th in the world. It is situated right in the center of the African Continent. The Capital and the largest city is Kinshasa situated along the Congo and has 15 million inhabitants (2021).
DRC exits to the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Congo River. The huge river Congo marks its 4.640 km long flow from the southern province Katanga to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the deepest river in the world, second by its length (only to the Nile), and the central line of the Congolese economy.
250 different ethnical groups live in the country. The most numerous once are the Kongo, Luba, and Mongo. The verity of 700 local languages is solved by the use of the official French language.
It is known that certain parts of DR Congo represent a real underground treasury by the abundance of different metal and mineral ores deposits.
DR Congo supports and controls seven national parks, three of which were classified by the UNESCO as “Places of the World Heritage” due to their exceptional beauty.
